I asked my brother if he or any of his cohorts in the Chicago area ever refered to the city as Chi-town. He gave me that classic Casey deadpan look. I figured that’s like Bay Area folks refering to our beloved city as Frisco. Oaktown, now that’s another story…

Anyway, MKC and I had a great trip visiting the Caseys in Chicago. It’s really one of the most American cities I’ve had the pleasure to visit.

Nice pics man. They make want to visit. That fountain is wild! “Oaktown”, huh? I’ve thought about that question, more than few times myself being a lifelong Oaklander. My conclusion is, to fully appreciate this term unlike “Hypfy” or “Oaklandish” – you need to have been raised in Oakland from the 70′s through the very early nineties as the term is a bit out of vogue. It mostly exists as warm yet mildly ironic sentimentality for most. Some call it “The Town” or “Tha Town” but mainly still seems isolated to rap subcultures. I am sure you heard that one too though. Oy, I’m sounding like a professor or something, I better stop now…!
Hi, we are doing an in-house training manual and would like to use your photo of the Crown Fountain. There is no commercial value for this manual as it’s only for training purposes. Would appreciate if you can revert with your permission to use the photo?
