November First Thursday

November 2, 2007

Headed out arting last night after the Receiver install. I’ll be heading out tonight as well doing some Art Murmuring in Oakland and then heading down to San Jose for Kevin Taylor’s show at Anno Domini.

Nam June Paik at the Haines Gallery at 49 Geary.

We stopped over at the Patricia Sweetow Gallery to see Jamie Vasta’s amazing glitter paintings. I can’t even imagine the process she goes through to produce these.

I highly recommend this show!

Then we were off to Upper Playground to see San’s show. The UP press for San reads “Born Daniel Munoz Rodriquez, San is an internationally recognized and commissioned illustrator, painter, and street artist who is making his debut in North America with his show at FIFTY24SF Gallery. Born in a small Spanish village near the Portuguese border, San currently works and resides in Madrid. His artwork is influenced by magical realism, graffiti, and the culinary arts. In a recent interview in Juxtapoz Magazine, he remarked, “I think today my work is a mixture of classical drawing and contemporary art languages. Nowadays, nature is the basis of my work.” San has shown his fine art internationally, as well as his street art in cities across Europe.”

His drawing abilities are impressive…

Upstairs is the Date Farmers show. I’ve always been a big fan of their work and this show is a great example of their California central valley agricultural Mexican-American influenced art.
