Renegade Humor

MKC and I headed to the member’s event at the San Jose Museum of Art last night. We went primarily to see Kathy Aoki‘s very cool “Political Paper Dolls” installation. She was commissioned by the museum to make this work for the “Renegade Humor” exhibition. Some great pieces in this show (Robert Arneson)! Also showing is the “Mexicanisimo through Artists’ Eyes” show. Really great stuff including a number of works by drawerer, painter, and printmaker Enrique Chagoya. I love this guy’s work! And last, but not least, is Sandow Birk‘s “To Hell and Back: Sandow Birk’s Divine Comedy” show. Great lithographs! We have all three of his books. I will have to revisit those.
