The Compound Gallery in Oakland has a terrific show up now of Martin Webb‘s paintings and sculpture. The show is titled “Made for You and Me” based on the Woody Guthrie anthem “This Land is Your Land.” I especially dig the carved repurposed highway sign posts.

What a fun eve at Southern Exposure’s Monster Drawing Rally. I managed to make two cats-in-pants drawings which were pretty popular. People dig cats! Thanks to Mary Kalin-Casey for these fine photos.

Munch Gallery in NYC currently has a show of work by Danish artist and H&P collaborator Morten Hemmingsen Sørup. Morten was kind enough to send over some pics. I wish I could see this show in person.

Wes Smoot and the 49ers is the title of the current show at Anno Domini in San Jose. Wes Smoot is the elusive leader of the cult of the 49ers. These works represent the machinations of some of the members of this mysterious order, including the workd of Mr. Smoot himself. Artists include Mark Pavlovits, Shaun Roberts, Michael Linton Simpson, Wes Smoot, Patrick Thompson, Derek Weisberg, Lulu Yee.

It’s always a pleasure to visit a Michael McConnell show. Love his animal human hybrid works and oddball stuffed critter sculptures. Seesaw is a child psychologist’s office and these works fit well here.

I’ve made three new finger sculptures for an upcoming group show at Double Punch in SF in July. I like to roll ahead of schedule if possible and it’s a lot of fun to make these guys. I will be working on some similar, but more totem-like figures for my show at Breeze Block Gallery in Portland in October. Those will be a lot more colorful I think.
