January First Thursday

Headed out to SF via BART. If you’ve been following the news, a BART policeman, while trying to arrest some train rowdies New Year’s day, shot Oscar Grant lying prone on the ground with his hands behind his back. The scene was captured on video and Oakland has been enduring some violent protests. The above protest signage is a small example of some anti BART propaganda. Anyway, on to the arting…

Stopped by Jack Fischer gallery to check out John Hundt‘s show.

Patricia Sweetow gallery has work by Jaime Vasta and Cornelia Schulz. Jaime does these really lovely glitter paintings. I mean the photos do not do these works justice…

Here is Cornelia Schulz’s work. These have the appearance of ceramic works but are really painting on shaped canvas…

Marx and Zavattero has design heavy mutated insect paintings/reliefs by Paul Paiement

Then, after a 1.5 mile walk up market in the hella cold we stopped into Laurina Paperina‘s show at Linc Art

The we finished the night at Fecal Face Dot Gallery where Paul Urich was having a show of his gouache paintings-drawings. He has really captured that elusive “hovering” moment I seek in my own work. Again, photos do not do justice to this great work.
