Tall Tales: Waterfall

I’ve decided to post one of the Call & Response works (both drawing by me and writing by Mary Kalin-Casey) in the Tall Tales show currently up at Swarm Gallery in Oakland. First up is Waterfall.

River rapids, lemming drops
suicidal waves in siren song
call all to dance behind them
in service of their god.

Glistening temptress, spinning lies
to wayward mortals mesmerized
by power and chaotic grace
is it love (?) divine embrace (?)
you seek, poor human sacrifice
cast over mist
one moment, LIFE!

Then weightless
fore gravity, with heartless clutch
drags you to an icy death
below, where churning waters foam
like Lazarus, they live again.

Fantastic dreamer
rainbow crasher
fall and be reborn.

I absolutely love this. I want to print them and soak them in tea and sepia and sew real fallen autumn leaves on them…

I caught up with my old pal Scout in Orinda yesterday. I’m impressed with all his new merit badges and fancy headwear. #art #sculpture #collector #scout
