Checked out some nice shows at White Walls and the Shooting Gallery and accompanying project spaces. Casey Gray, in the front White Walls main gallery, is showing tightly constructed paintings with what appears to involve some masking or simply precisely painted shapes and lines combined with a looser spray-painted or airbrushed mark-making.
Michael Page continues his surreal color explosion environments in the Shooting Gallery main space. Works which include mythical characters with even more whimsical personalities compared to his last show at White Walls.
Melbourne-based artist, Reka One occupies the White Walls project space with some stylized paintings on found objects. These are all quite nicely designed.
And last, but certainly not least, Oakland’s Lauren Napolitano kills it in the Shooting Gallery project space with some lovely installations incorporating her signature drawings and shrine works that are really stunning.
