I had a lot of fun appearing on Alison O.K. Frost’s cooking show. I swear I play better cornhole than this episode indicates. The tri-tip was super tasty too. You can catch other Compound shows here.

Featuring the work of Winston Smith, Bill Zindel, Erin Case, David Delruelle, Jesse Treece, Hope Kroll, Zach Collins, Katie McCann, John Hundt, Michael Tunk, Adrian Velazco, Justin Angelos, Frank Morison, and Tres Roemer.

I had a great time at my “Happy Accidents” opening reception at The Compound Gallery. It was so cool so see so many friends and get some solid feedback on my new color work. Good times indeed! The show runs through 3/8/15. And there will be an artist talk that I believe will be broadcast live online. I’ll post the details as we get closer to the date.

Hey Artophiles, I have a solo coming up!!!
Happy Accidents: New Work by John Casey
Reception: Saturday January 31, 6 – 9pm
Exhibition Dates: January 31 – March 8, 2015
The Compound Gallery, in Oakland, CA presents “Happy Accidents,” a solo show featuring my recent foray into color. For years I have worked mostly with black, white, and gray (and occasionally reddish-orange) using ink or pencil. Recently I’ve experienced a color epiphany, with a new cast of characters in the form of paintings, cutouts, and sculpture. Come out and see the technicolor, recessive, gene-pool family. I am super excited for this show! I hope you can make it if you are nearby.

I often attend a group drawing session at Faultline Artspace in Oakland. There’s no public interaction there, just artists chilling, shooting the shit, mostly about nothing much, just enjoying each other’s company. It’s easy to get isolated in the studio and I very much enjoy the socializing with the Draw Club folks. Rock Paper Scissors Collective in Oakland is hosting an exhibit featuring a mish-mash of drawings made by DC attendees. Like the DC members, the work is quite diverse, ranging in media and styles. It’s a fun mix so check it out next time you are near RPS.
